Inspired by what is happening in culture, society and daily life, Alma Twist writes with feeling and commentary. Lyrical topics are formed from podcasts, news outlets or current affairs these are all catalysts for musical themes about wealth disparity, social media, political constructs and self-development. The lead singer Kat writes songs that come with a message, she believes that music is a platform for change, either internally or externally, writing about how the world effects you and you effect it.

Musically taking inspiration from Artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Fela Kuti, Tune Yards, Amy Winehouse and Lianne La Havas, the band have molded their sound around Hip-hop beats, funky base lines, jazz chords and Punchy brass parts.
To date the band have released four singles, Always Here, You Taught Me This, Nothing's Permanent and Fear . These tracks were all recorded from their home studio in a beautiful Hampshire countryside setting. The band have had amazing support from BBC introducing with ‘track of the week’ and ‘tip of the week’ and have been played on local radio stations such as Express FM, woking radio, Radio Reverb and 1BNT. They Have also had support from indie playlisters and bloggers.

The summer saw Alma Twist play their first shows in Brighton, London and at small Festivals. The band are currently writing new music with a view to record their first EP early Next year. They are hoping 2022 will bring a full calendar of festivals and gigs.
Between them, the members of the band (in different projects) have collectively released music onto streaming platforms, played at multiple festivals including Glastonbury, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party, Reading and Leeds. They have played sold out gigs in Brighton, London and parts of Europe in venues such as The Cavern Club (Paris), The Hope and Ruin (Brighton), The Old Market (Brighton) and Above @ The Ritzy (Brixton, London). The merging of different genres and influences from previous musical projects is what has created such an organic and strong chemistry between the band members.
